JBD New York is a women’s lifestyle brand launched by the brands founder Vijay Paintal. Vijay was born and raised in New York where his family has been in the apparel trade since 1978. Growing up Vijay and his parents would take several trips to India, where their manufacturing base is located and also began spending a significant amount of time in their showroom in New York City. Inevitably he developed a love for all things fashion and learned the ins and outs of the garment industry. He knew very early on that this is was a business he would like to one day enter into himself. After 5 years of working full time in his family business Vijay decided the time was right to expand and launch a new division with. His goal was to showcase how far Indian manufacturing has come in the past decade and at the same time feature some of their oldest crafts in a whole new light, while producing a fashion forward line using the highest quality fabrics and printing processes to rival products from some of the most exclusive brands in the world. Vijay teamed up with London based designer Jeanie Bramble to form JBD New York. After one year of intensive design, fabric sourcing and development JBD launched its first apparel collection for Spring/Summer 2013 and Resort 2013. Which was well received by high-end boutiques across the US, South America and Europe. In the summer of 2013 Henri Bendel picked up the line for their flagship store in NY. For 2014 JBD New York has also launched an accessory line of scarves and handmade limited edition Pashmina Shawls. The scarf fabrics include Modal, Silk/Wool blends and 100% pure silk. All the scarves feature stunning digital prints owned and developed by us. The range has been very well received by some of the best stores in the world as well as private label brands.
