Jeena

Since 2010 Jeena has engaged with corporate, statutory and the voluntary sector to deliver projects and used our expertise to reach out to vulnerable individuals, particularly from BAME communities, through the work that we do with victims of abuse. Jeena aims to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by working with people within the UK who are socially excluded from society or part of society due to being part of a socially and economically deprived community. Jeena aims to support and help in particular those members of the BAME community who are further disadvantaged as a result of one or more of the following factors: sex, age, sexual orientation or gender re-assignment. Jeena will relieve the needs of such people and assist them to integrate into society in particular by: 1. providing trained advocates who will be community members and will be embedded within the community to set up local networks that encourage and enable the BAME community to participate more effectively with the wider community. Through these advocates Jeena will identify and support victims or potential victims of abuse from within the communities; particularly those who are vulnerable due to their gender and age. Jeena will, through training and community programmes within the BAME communities, educate and raise awareness of issues that prevent Jeena beneficiaries from participating fully in society. Jeena will also create a platform for collaborative working for organisations and service providers, to educate and raise awareness of the needs of those people who are socially excluded to encourage them to adapt their services to the BAME communities' particular needs, thus promoting a joined up approach and enabling these organisations to tailor their services to suit the requirements of that community.
