The Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF) is founded on the fundamental premise of giving to society, a philosophy that has governed its predecessor, the Sunway Education Trust since its inception in 1997. Through the Foundation, operating surpluses are ploughed back into the institutions or disbursed as scholarships, research grants and expansion of faculty and facilities to ensure quality education and research in perpetuity. The JCF currently owns and governs educational entities of the Sunway Education Group including Sunway University, Sunway colleges, and Sunway International schools. JCF is today the largest education-focused organisation with operations assimilating a social enterprise in Malaysia and continues to seek ways to advance the academic standards in Malaysia through collaborative partnerships with top-ranking universities.
