Jess Ahlum

I’m Jess, a red-headed gal living on the southeast coast of North America with my husband and puppy-dog-bear. I started my private practice in 2007 as a bodywork therapist while slowly building in the work of pre- and perinatal psychology (PPN). I’ve learned so much working with peoples’ bodies and babies and complex, beautiful families. My fascination with families began when I was a young girl. My sensitivity allowed me to tune into social-emotional energy around me which was quite stressful at the time. I grew up seeking to understand the relationship dynamics around me, how they were affecting me, and how I could help myself and others manage their complexity. The “others” I help today are families with babies and older kids, who prioritize healthy communication, secure attachment, and social-emotional intelligence as core values. We cannot underestimate this importance. Social support mitigates the negative impacts of toxic stress and is known to be the biggest contributor to overall lifespan health and satisfaction; yet, who’s teaching relationship skills?
