Jnana Prabodhini

Jnana Prabodhini (JP) was founded by the Late Dr. V.V alias Appasaheb Pendse in 1962-63. He was an Educationist and Professor of Psychology at the University of Pune. Inspired by Swami Vivekananda's Philosophy, he decided to make social experiments in Man-making Education. Swamiji tried to combine the cultural heritage of our country which expresses our identity and integrity with the awakening and organisation work required for the eradication of poverty and suffering. A number of works in India and abroad are inspired by this thought. One of such autonomous experiments is Jnana Prabodhini. Jnana Prabodhini, well-known today as a reputed organisation on the national and international level, began its work in the form of a small seed of an experiment for educating the gifted. We can see this seed developed into movements spread across various rural and urban areas through different fields of work. This is a movement to motivate every person’s intelligence for a social change. A socially oriented educational movement reaching out to different socio-economic strata through the theme of intelligence development. Emphasizing the identification of intelligence in rural and deprived sectors and also putting it on first priority, today it is working in eight dimensions – Education, Research, Rural Development, Health, Awakening of Woman Power, Leadership Development, National Integration and Social Entrepreneurship. Jnana Prabodhini has conducted many educational and social projects in the last 50 years. This has led to the establishment Jnana Prabodhini Trust, Other trusts - Jnana Prabodhini Sanshodhan Sanstha (JPSS), Gram Prabodhan, Jnana Prabodhini Solapur, Jnana Prabodhini Medical Trust and multiple Extension Centres.
