Jumping In Solo Inc started out as founder, Carra Yoder’s, own personal solo journey to heal herself through nature. Having depression, anxiety, PTSD, and an eating disorder for most of her life, she created a space for herself to get the help she so desperately needed. After being on a SI hold and in an eating disorder program, Carra’s life changed. Her goal was to create a space for people to heal and get that same life-changing help. During her stays in hospital and program, she saw the disconnect of funds needed to help people continue to get help regardless of insurance. She saw the great disconnect between mental healthcare and women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ communities. With her connection to nature, she hopes to create a space to improve mental health by creating opportunities for people to experience the healing power of nature. Jumping In Solo Inc was created on the mission that you are never alone in your battle with mental health; there needs to be a change about the conversation around mental health to show that self love is not selfish. JIS will help to provide grants for mental health care and wellness within the communities of women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ so that can survive and thrive through support, education, wellness retreats, nature hikes, and peer support. JIS will address the wellbeing of these communties through multiple innovative and inclusive pathways including comprehensive programs (wellness retreats, guided self-discovery exercises, in the wilderness education, physical movement, and storytelling) providing leadership focused on wellness, inclusion, body positivity and nature. Also grant programs provide financial support for those individuals experiencing a crisis, and those whose mental health journeys are cut short due to health care insurance determinations. raising awareness of the status of mental health within these communities, and research the advancement of wellness through nature, mental health and the reduction of suicide.
