Juola & Associates was formed in 2010 by Dr. Patrick Juola, a leading authority in the fields of stylometry and linguistic analysis, and three of his former students when they saw that there were practical applications for the research they had been doing for the last decade. Together, they have more than 30 years of experience in the field of stylometry and forensic linguistics. Their clients have run the gamut from billion-dollar multinational corporations to individuals looking for political asylum. They are benefited by a wide-spread misconception: “As long as a comment is written, it can be effectively anonymous”. This is the reason that people leave ransom notes, publish radical manifestos, and act in socially unacceptable ways on the Internet. This “common knowledge” is flat-out wrong. Everybody leaves telltale marks in their writing that are as unique to an individual as a fingerprint. By analyzing these marks, we can determine if it is likely that a certain individual wrote a document and we can also tell certain traits about that individual.
