The Ultimate Destination For Jazz Frederick Smith Jr & LeRoy Downs know that a company built like a small jazz group must be able to work well with others, improvise at a moment’s notice, constantly find ways to show up for the gig and consistently pump out new music and refreshing content. It must also honor the past, respect the present and look forward to the future, to what’s next. All Music Television Digital Network was created in the summer of 2014 as a digital platform to market and promote all music, particularly jazz music, in a changing digital landscape. It was inspired by a love and respect for the music and by a chance meeting with a talented young local jazz saxophonist named Kamasi Washington. Inspired by his music, his humility and a desire to spread his music with the world, we decided to meet the young man for breakfast at a local Inglewood restaurant and record the meeting. Fred Smith enlisted the help of friend and jazz music fan, former NBA player Craig Smith. At one point we had considered starting our own record label to release his music, having listened to Kamasi’s new music (The Epic) and his story of how hard it was for him to get a local label to return his calls. Well, needless to say, the record label answered his call and the rest is history. Kamasi Washington is now arguably the biggest and brightest young jazz artist in the world today, having almost single-handedly put the Los Angeles jazz scene back on the map (along with help from childhood friends and frequent collaborators the West Coast Get Down). In 2018 All Music Television Digital Network firmly established itself as a must stop and first choice destination for all things jazz for artists, musicians, labels, festivals, media and jazz fans coast to coast and worldwide. On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, All Music Television goes all in on jazz with the official launch of its new website & platform JustJazz.TV Stay tuned, we’re just getting started!
