Just Start LA is an educational company redefining what it means to support students and families in today’s world. We believe true success goes beyond grades — it’s about confidence, organization, and the tools to navigate both academics and life with clarity and purpose. At the heart of Just Start is executive function coaching for students, parents, and adults. Our coaches help clients strengthen skills like time management, organization, and emotional regulation. From tackling procrastination to building sustainable routines, we guide clients in taking meaningful steps toward independence and confidence. Alongside coaching, we provide academic tutoring, test preparation, workshops, and speaker series. Our team combines content support with skill-building strategies, empowering students to think critically, stay organized, and approach challenges with resilience. Every service reflects our core values: empowerment, collaboration, and authenticity. Founded by Jordyn Shapiro, a UCLA graduate in Psychology, Just Start LA began with the vision that education should prepare people for more than school — it should prepare them for life. Chief Operating Officer Téa Romano, also a UCLA graduate in Linguistics and Psychology, helps shape Just Start’s programs with her expertise in how people learn and grow. Today, Just Start serves middle schoolers, high schoolers, college students, and parents. Whether it’s managing homework, balancing responsibilities, or navigating independence, we’re here to help clients feel capable and confident — one small step at a time.
