I visit with my clients in their homes or online. This helps older people feel safe and it helps me understand their world and their issues. Many older people feel the loss of vitality, usefulness, relevance as they age and this leads to anxiety and or depression. In many cases this feeling leads to them giving up on life altogether. Let me help them see a better way of enjoying their latter years. This is my skill and my passion. As an older counsellor I empathise with their fears and they can see that I am authentic and believable. I came to counselling after a career in teaching then in radio and television production. This lead to me creating my own video production house where I focused on programs for the Education Department to help up-skill teachers on curriculum delivery. I also worked for a company that helped older people move from their family homes into retirement villages or aged care. During this time I noticed how much of my job was spent in counselling them through this upheaval. This lead me to complete a Diploma of counselling and then a Bachelor of counselling. So, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a passion for working with people my own age as we muddle our way through these final years of life and try to find something wonderful about each and every day.
