The JustMinds Institute is a Vienna-based consultancy, research and technology company focused on human performance in complex, high-reliability systems. We work at the intersection of psychology, human factors, data, and system design. Our aim is to help organisations understand how human performance actually emerges in real operations, and how it can be supported sustainably as systems become more complex and demanding. At the core of our work is a simple idea that is often overlooked: human performance is not a trait of individuals, but a property of the system in which people operate. We support organisations with human performance and fatigue risk management, moving beyond compliance towards a more predictive and system-level understanding of performance, fatigue, and risk, while remaining grounded in operational reality. A central part of our work is data-driven performance modelling. By combining objective system data, task complexity, time-based demand, and human performance indicators, we help organisations understand why performance varies over time, not only when incidents occur. Our flagship technology, STORMS (Socio-Technical Operational Resource Management System), brings system data and human performance modelling together to support real operational decision-making. Developed in air traffic management, the approach is applicable across other high-reliability domains including maritime, energy, and healthcare. Alongside technology development, we provide consulting in human performance strategy, human factors, fatigue risk management, safety and Just Culture, and the responsible integration of AI into socio-technical systems. Our mission is to help organisations manage human performance in a realistic, ethical, and sustainable way as demand, complexity, and automation continue to increase.
