In May 1988, the Kansas Medical Society (KMS) House of Delegates authorized the formation of a mutual professional liability insurance company for Kansas physicians. As a result, in June of 1989, Kansas Medical Mutual Insurance Company (KAMMCO) began operations for the purpose of- Creating market competition- Stabilizing insurance rates- Developing a highly effective, professional claims philosophy- Assuring a sustainable source of professional liability insurance. In the thirty years that have followed, KAMMCO has established a reputation of being pro-healthcare professional in the defense of claims, tireless in its efforts as an advocacy organization, and proactive in the development of loss prevention resources and educational opportunities. KAMMCO’s success as a financially secure, operationally sound, relentless advocate presents the organization the ability to reinvest in the healthcare industry in a manner which benefits both its members and the patients they serve. Protection of members is the foundation upon which KAMMCO was constructed.
