Karar Dance Company

Richmond, Virginia's KARAR DANCE COMPANY is a professional dance company led by Artistic Director Kara Robertson, a Richmond native and VCU alumna. Through powerful, modern dance, the company investigates the complexity of human emotion and experience, engaging audiences both in Richmond and beyond. Since KDC’s inception in 2016, the company has performed at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in New York City for the American Dance Guild Festival Visions Then and Now, the Richmond Dance Festival, Small Plates Lorton, Sessions: Affected, the First Annual Artist Showcase, and has produced two concert events including Across Disciplines as part of artoberVA. The company continues to offer technique classes for the Richmond community and is excited to expand upon their reach by providing more opportunities for artists in the Richmond community through performance and education. KARAR DANCE COMPANY is the founding institution of Homegrown Choreographers, a dance maker platform that lives online where choreographers share their work and inspiration.
