Karavaan Iiser Pune

Karavaan is the annual socio-cultural fest of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune. With its humble origins as a small intra-college fest in 2008, it has grown by leaps and bounds to become a significant presence in Pune. Karavaan is entirely student-organized, with the active involvement of all major institute clubs. Our vision is to create a fun, exciting and memorable experience for everyone involved as they take a break from their regular schedules and give back to society with good deeds. Karavaan is held over three days in the Spring semester with a footfall of people, hosting myriad activities involving music competitions such as Band Wars, dance competitions (Nupura), photography, science, quizzing, drama, literature and stand-up comedy by students. Eminent personalities from across the country (acclaimed writer Manu S Pillai; LGBTQ rights activist Bindumadhav Khire; former director of SERB etc.) are invited to deliver several talks on various subjects of importance to society. Audiences are also treated to spectacular shows by acclaimed musicians and bands such as Emiway Bantai, Sabali The Band, Indian Ocean, The Local Train and Agam, as well as stand-up comedians such as Joel D’Souza, Sorabh Pant and Karunesh Talwar. Along with these, there are a number of welfare events (including regular blood donation drives, Pride Parades, River cleaning drives etc.) that make Karavaan a fest with a difference.
