Karel van Mander was a Dutch Baroque painter who moved to Copenhagen in the 1620s and lived in the nightclub's buildings. He used the house to paint and accommodate royal guests from all over the world on His Royal Danish King Christian IV behalf, of whom Karel also portrayed a famous painting and therefore became a Royal painter.
