Nakon višegodišnjeg rada u inozemstvu vezanog za proizvodnju i prodaju sladoleda, te uspješne poslovno tehničke suradnje sa ostalim tvrtkama iz EU, firma Karmel Ice pokreće tvornicu sladoleda u Metkoviću. Tvornica je opremljena najmodernijom opremom za proizvodanju sladoleda i drugih slastičarskih proizvoda. Ovom poduzetničkom idejom otvorena su nova radna mjesta i novi priljev sredstava u gradski proračun. Preko 90% proizvodnje Karmel ice izvozi na inozemno tržište gdje ima ranije ustaljenu prodajnu mrežu. U proizvodnom asortimanu tvornice Karmel ice, nalaze se sve vrste sladoleda pod brandom Pingo: Korneti, štapić, čašice te obiteljska, ugostiteljska kao i torte raznih pakiranja i okusa. Svi navedeni proizvodi kvalitetom su uz bok ostalih relevantnih proizvođača a cijenom znatno povoljniji od istih.
