Kerekere Green

KereKere is a small coffee shop with a big heart. KereKere Green is a breezy coffeehouse set within the Fitzroy Gardens Visitor Centre offering light breakfast, lunch and a range of freshly baked cakes and pastries. Our simple menu makes for easy choices so KereKere can be quick stop, at any time of day. We are named after the custom that inspired it. KereKere (pronounced kerry-kerry) is the Fijian custom in which a relative or neighbour can request something that is needed and it must be willingly given with no expectation of repayment. This custom inspires everything we do. Since 2007, our mission has been to make great cuppas and bring people together. We believe in going beyond transactions by exploring new ways of doing business, and ensuring everyone can participate and contribute to the common good. We experiment, troubleshoot and pilot ways to spread joy and generosity and involve our customers to help call the shots. If you have an idea to enhance the local community, promote arts, culture, learning or wellbeing activities please email us at info@kerekere.org or join our KereKere Village here to be part of our community that calls the shots on everything we do. KereKere started out as a coffee cart at The University of Melbourne in 2007. By 2011 it had evolved into a purpose built kiosk, in 2012 KereKere South opened at Boyd Community Hub in Southbank and in 2014, KereKere Green opened in the Fitzroy Gardens Visitors Centre.
