Khachube

Khachube is a celebration of the black woman's story.” Strictly speaking, Khachube is Xhosa for "please peal for me", with specific reference to either a fruit or vegetable. But, in the true nature of language to often wander off into spaces far from its genesis, Khachube is also used as a request by one girlfriend asking the other to tell her a story. Khachube, to peal the skin off of the story kept hidden underneath your tongue, to feed it to another. Khachube is a collection of these stories, global stories by black women who were brave enough to peal and to also hopefully heal. Khachube is a celebration of the black woman's story, it is a blanket for our collective story, and an ode to their place in the world.
