Behind four walls bound by numerous children and the never ending responsibilities of running a home, in every man & woman in rural area lives an artist, an entrepreneur, someone determined to make lives better for those around him / her. Weaving khaddar with the use of the traditional hand spun loom, it is a skill and occupation that is passed down generations among the rural communities of the country. For several decades, Kamalia is known for producing best quality khaddar fabric in the world. Even as majority of the people in Kamalia are engaged in agriculture, weaving Khaddar is not only a Key occupation, but what they master in. Unfortunately, over the years Khaddar looms have been slowly disappearing due to the absence of right infrastructure and exposure to bigger markets. Khaddar Hub primarily focuses on bringing back the tradition through empowerment of traditional handspun weavers while exposing them to exhibitions, festivals, domestic and international markets. This attempt is also to ensure a sustainable livelihood of hundreds of rural communities, with special emphasis on youth. We only serve as intermediaries between these hardworking and skilled people and the market carrying their product to the outside world in a form more suited to consumer. Each dress you purchase isn’t only a beautiful addition to your wardrobe but a helping hand extended towards communities in these deep rural areas.
