Kidofdoom

kidofdoom are an, instrumental-rock band who began their stage career in the disco-punk and indie-dance scene which exploded across South Africa in early 2007. Having a strong association with these events gave Kidofdoom the ultimate platform to expose their music to large audiences and to the variety of pop-culture publications connected with these parties. From there the band was able to find its place into the main stream armed with this strong following giving them recognition and headlining slots at festivals such as Oppikoppi, Ramfest, Vortex, Woodstock and Earthdance. Using the typical rock set up of a drummer, a bass player, two guitarists keyboards and synthesizers to create music that is atypical of rock, kidofdoom on the surface appear to be a text book example of a post-rock band but have seemingly evolved the genre into what they call 'deep-space-champion-pop', music that is influenced by the universe and makes you feel like a champion. Adding synths, a theremin and the unusual absence of vocals to the mix applies a completely different aesthetic to the genre giving Kidofdoom the standout show that few bands can provide. Heavy downbeat grooves and epic chord progressions create a pressure in the audiences' body which explodes when the guitar solo sores through the crowd. Kidofdoom shows are known to be full of passion and love for music and this allows them to build their own universe with their fans in that moment. The music has been placed into many different genres because of the diversity and knowledge of the members; there are traces of post rock, indie, classical, jazz, pop, dance, film, electronica, country, contemporary, psychedelic.but simply put it is instrumental freedom.
