Kindness Like Confetti

Kindness Like Confetti, is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation focused on addressing the most pressing issues facing women in South Africa such as period poverty, gender-based violence and inequality by creating and providing deliverables that educate, uplift and empower women to become all they can be. The Pad Princess is Kindness Like Confetti’s flagship project which addresses period poverty by providing disadvantaged female learners of primary and high school going age with reusable sanitary ware in the form of period panties and reusable pads. By doing so these learners no longer have to miss critical school days because of not having access to or being able to afford sanitary ware. When learners are gifted these types of products, they are able to keep up with their male counterparts and not suffer the embarrassment or discomfort of not owning or having access to suitable sanitary ware. Kindness Like Confetti also uses distribution days to conduct educational awareness campaigns that provides female learners with information regarding menstruation and female hygiene matters. Project Uplift collects gently worn bras and panties for women who cannot afford their own. These undergarments give women comfort, confidence and dignity. In impoverished areas in South Africa, food is a priority and bras are considered a luxury. Many young girls forfeit participating in sports activities as they simply cannot afford a sports bra. The Dignity Bag project aims at restoring dignity and comfort to women and children who have experienced the trauma of gender based violence, rape, assault or abuse. The bags are distributed to Victims Support Centres located at police stations. Bags contain personal care items and a new pair of panties amongst other essential items. Children's packs contain toiletries, a teddy and an activity book. KLC also runs projects in the spirit of kindness such as knitting and animal shelter support.
