Kitega Community Centre is a community-rooted organisation building inclusive, resilient, and self-sustaining communities in Uganda. For 25 years, we have partnered with children, youth, persons with disabilities, and local leaders to unlock potential, expand opportunity, and inspire lasting change. Our work is driven by five strategic pillars: KAI – Kitega Ability Initiative Advancing disability inclusion and child development by promoting dignity, early learning, and meaningful participation for children and youth with disabilities. IMARA – Skills, Enterprise & Innovation Equipping young people and adults with practical skills, vocational training, enterprise development, and innovation pathways that foster dignified livelihoods. VICOBAPlus – Mindset & Community Empowerment Our signature empowerment model centred on mindset transformation. VICOBAPlus helps individuals and groups recognise what they already have, dream and plan together, solve problems creatively, and mobilise local resources. Savings and enterprise grow naturally from renewed confidence, agency, and leadership. Community Health & Wellness Improving wellbeing through access to primary healthcare, prevention, public health education, and healthier, safer environments. Rights, Protection & Advocacy Promoting justice, safeguarding, and the protection of vulnerable groups. This includes disability rights, child protection, community awareness, and basic legal aid that strengthens dignity, accountability, and equal access to opportunity. Capacity Development (Cross-Cutting) A core engine that sustains and scales our work. We train and mentor facilitators, youth leaders, and emerging changemakers who replicate inclusive development practices within their own communities and across East Africa.
