The Dutch created cookies by accident in the 16th century while they were testing cake flavors in small tins. When they realized what a delicious, bite-sized treat they had on their hands, they started selling this new creation in bakeries all over Holland. They called this yummy snack a "koekie" and it quickly spread all over the world. The Dutch baked koekies by hand in small batches using whole, natural ingredients.
