Koudwa

Since 2017, koudwa started as a Lebanese non-registered community-based grassroot organization active in North Lebanon -Tripoli, founded by three active women from Tripoli. The main purpose of the foundation of this initiative is to involve women in the conflict areas in Tripoli in the peace building process to become partners in the decision-making process in the community. HOW WE GOT THE IDEA OF KOUDWA? Perhaps all the ideas of initiatives are issued through thinking and planning, but our initiative was created from the heart of a specific event, which is a conference for an International Organization about the role of the women in the peace building process, it was discussed mainly the gap in the role of women in the participation in the peace building process specifically when it comes to reconciliation between areas of conflicts, in our case – Tripoli – we are talking about a real conflict, so we are not talking theories only, after this we came up with our idea and we launched our initiative Koudwa, with the following Mission: Our mission is to support women to play a leadership role to become a role model “Koudwa” for her community, and to valorize her role in sustainable peace building process. Also, to empower her and to increase her contribution in participative decision-making process to facilitate her active involvement in business, employment, learning and community life.
