Kristina Burja, founder and designer of Krie Design, has long championed sustainability in fashion, advocating for responsible production and mindful consumption. Through her collections and participation in international events, she actively raises awareness about the urgent need for change. Since 2016, she has been part of Green Fashion Week, an international nonprofit project supported by GD Major Entertainment, the Fashion Service Association, and Italy’s Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the Kristina has showcased her sustainable collections worldwide—in Milan, Rome, Los Angeles, Dubai, the Algarve, and beyond. In 2017, she represented Croatia at a sustainability panel in Rome’s historic Hadrian Temple. A year later, Krie Design became the first sustainable brand at Arab Fashion Week—where eco-conscious design is now the standard. At Expo 2020 in Dubai, Krie Design’s iconic “Bow” gown was featured alongside Rimac’s Nevera in the Croatian Pavilion, under the Expo theme:"Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." Beyond fashion, Kristina launched the initiative “By the Sea, For the Sea” with Croatian fishermen and the Provir project, removing 50+ tons of fishing nets from the Adriatic and turning them into ECONYL® yarn which is a 100% regenerated nylon fiber from pre and post-consumer nylon waste—used in her collections. The project gained support from Croatian ministries and UN-backed organizations like WWF, GFW, and HS4A. With her “Modifie” line, Kristina promotes multifunctional fashion—pieces made to be worn in different ways, year-round. Her message is clear: fashion must be timeless, sustainable, and practical. Her designs have won over celebrities like Tyra Banks, Mary J. Blige, Ashanti, En Vogue, Mädchen Amick, Daniela Pick, actresses Mayssa Maghrebi and Cynthia Samuel. Kristina believes:"Buy what matters—what has origin and is made to last." Sustainability is not a trend. It’s the future of fashion.
