Kyub Gmbh

Kyub is the only system in the world that enables the design and prototyping of objects up to the size of a chair within a 90min school lesson. We deliver, install and maintain the entire system of hardware, software and teaching content to the school. Depending on how it is integrated into the lesson, the system enables students to be guided from the idea through a digital design process to a tangible model within a short period of time. Kyub contains a library of interdisciplinary learning content through which real pieces of furniture or, for example, playable musical instruments can first be designed in the web browser and then physically manufactured - without any prior knowledge. Through physical building, Kyub also manages to convey the complex underlying learning content across school subjects. For the workpiece “Chair”, for example, chapters of physics such as force distribution or vibration theory are addressed. In the case of the “Cajon” workpiece, in addition to works and digital design, the teaching units also include content from the subjects of music and physics. This inspires learners, makes them want to work with their hands, and encourages them to think about their professional future. We deliberately want to close an enormous gap in professional and educational policy needs, which has become increasingly apparent over the past few decades as interest in skilled trades and engineering professions has declined. Kyub was originally created at the Hasso Plattner Institute and is a spin-off of the institute. Shareholders include Prof. Dr. Patrick Baudisch and the HPI Seed Fund. Anna Roumen is the managing director. Kyub has been funded by the Potsdam Mittelmark district since 2024.
