LA MACHETE - NUEVA FUSION AFROPERUANA Mirtha Guerrero, stage name "La Machete", is a songwriter and performer part of the new generation creating contemporary Afro-Latin music now in Lima (Peru). Half way between Susana Baca and Novalima, La Machete offers a lively and modern glance at Afro-Peruvian rhythms interpreting the little-known music of the Pacific coast of Peru, where she grew up. Polyrhythm and fusion of melodies where one can hear pop, jazz and the voices, history and music of the sister countries of Latin America - the clarity of her lyrics combine with imagination and an uncompromising derision that uplifts us with joy and passion. She has lived in France for several years and released her latest CD "De verdes. y maduras”, end of 2010, in collaboration with the Alliance Française of Lima (Peru). She’s actually recording her new album working in France and Peru. The release of an EP is planned for the last trimester of this year. He spend a big part of his career playing with the very famous Peruvian Icon Chabuca Granda and more recently with Tania Libertad (Mexico). In the piano, Pepe Céspedes, 2009 best latin jazz pianist award given by US magazine The Latin Jazz Corner. In the bass, the skillful folkloriste Enderson Herencia. In the percussions, Mario Agüero, founder member of black Mammaye, first band playing black rhythms in Peru. And from Colombia, in the sax, Jaime Salazar, director of the Salsa Orchestra La Matanga. The CD was launched with success in France in Sept. 2009 & in Peru in Feb.
