m=variable, a logical set of values; an element that is liable to vary or change. MÁS=MORE, a greater, additional amount or degree. mMÁS is a research and design practice serving both private and public sectors within the fields of architecture, landscape design, urbanism and media installations. It would be disingenuous to say that our collaboration and interest in architecture started through a highly developed view of the world or a shared economic business plan. No, it was our last names, Jessica Garcia FRITZ and Federico GARCIA Lammers. mMÁS was the initial result of two architecture professors’ grouping us according to the alphabetical order of our last names. Today, mMÁS seeks work that explores the design potential present in the exchange between rural and urban environments at multiple scales. In order to refernece scale with our name, mMAS (no tilde) was initially an acronym for micro Macro Architecture Studio. Ultimately, we realized that mMÁS (con tilde) reflects the potential in a discipline full of variables and that this name marks our ambition to want more knowledge of how architecture can contribute to our role in the place we live in and the people we work with. Until we recognize potential in a new name, we will continue to use mMÁS.
