Labcads-Ufrj

The Chromatography and Adsorption Laboratory - LABCADS - integrates part of the research and development infrastructure at service of the School of Chemistry and the Graduate Program on Chemical and Biochemical Process Engineering, both linked to UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro). Projects developed on LABCADS are related with the broad field of industrial process engineering, emphasizing processes of chromatographic separation and adsorption. The works are focused on planning, assembly, modelling, simulation, instrumentation and control of chromatographic separation processes of chemical intermediates, fine chemicals and biotechnological products. LABCADS research group has been acting on mathematical modelling studies, development and application of technologies on separation and purification of proteins, pharmaceuticals, organic acids, and other chemicals. The group is dedicated to research and development of other kinds of processes, as Crystallization, Precipitation, and Membrane Separation. LABCADS has a team of researches (professors, master, doctorate and scientific initiation students) with large experience, proactivity, compromise, creativity and owning heterogeneous academic education. Our efforts have been focused on development of technologies and processes relevant to the scientific community and brazillian industries, beyond the training of highly specialized and qualified human resources.
