The major objective of Laia Foundation Trust is to contribute to the social and economic development of underprivileged communities in India through: 1. Education: By improving the quality of education in rural India, with emphasis on primary education, the very foundation for all higher learning, knowledge and understanding. When completing primary school, 80% of children should be able to read a text in their own language compared to the present 40%(according to Pratham’s ASER-2010). Health: To eradicate malnutrition among babies and children and improve the health conditions of children under 6, and pregnant women and feeding mothers. The project expects to reduce malnutrition among infants from 46%(source: Unicef) to10% in the next two years. Women Development: Women development has two aspects, the first, bringing all women in the area out of poverty
