The Lakvijaya Power Station (also known as the Norochcholai Power Station (is the largest power station in Sri Lanka. Electrical energy is produced using three Turbo-generators each of capacity 300MW. The total installed capacity of the plant is 900 MW. Bituminous Coal is used as the main fuel to produce steam that will then be used to rotate the turbine at a speed of rpm. Diesel is used as a startup fuel.
