LandTech was the first company to apply High Resolution Passive Seismic Tomography (PST) services to the oil industry. By using specially in-house designed seismographs and a patended neural tomographic inversion algorithm it provides to the customer complete 3-D p-wave, s-wave, Poisson's ratio and quality factor Qp data of the whole of the exploration block. The method can be used either at the preliminary stage of an investigation to pinpoint locations of interest to apply conventional seismic methods or directly to locate targets of interest. It can be also used in regions where the quality of the existing seismic data is questionable due to bad seismic penetration problems. In this case LandTech's PST technique will provide very accurate 3-D velocity data for re-processing the existing conventional seismic data (e.g. post stack depth migration) and increase by orders of magnitude the resolution. The advantages of PST methodology are many:(1) It can be applied in the most difficult topographies.(2) It does not suffer from seismic energy penetration problems since the seismic source (microearthquakes) are bellow or within the target of interest. Hence it can be applied to thrust belts, below basalt or evaporate imaging etc.(3) It is environmentally friendly.(4) It's cost is a fraction of a cost of conventional 2-D surveys despite the fact that provides 3-D data volumes.
