Lansdowne Park Conservancy
A public governance model and competitive bid for the development and management of Lansdowne Park. The City of Ottawa needs a partner to complete the 4 requirements set out by Council, namely 1. Stadium, 2. Green Space, 3. Retail Model, 4. Governance Model. The Conservancy has partnered with international design and architecture firm NBBJ (LA Staples Center, Safeco Field, Seattle, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation International Headquarters, Seattle) to produce a comprehensive development for the park at best value. The Conservancy option requires the City to invest half as much,$98M, with the entire amount financed by site revenue surplus, zero taxpayer cost. The current proposal requires $340M of taxpayer money. Additional benefits are keeping the park 100% public, 1/6 the proposed density, lower traffic problems and a site scaled for the human experience in oder to increase tourism. A heritage restoration, meeting the needs of our City and Nation's Capital.
