At Leng Dei, we believe we are growing disconnected from the materiality of our needs & from the interconnected nature of all living beings, we don’t see them anymore. As a result, exploited and polluted lives are at the heart of our choices of development. What if we could clearly see what regenerative & desirable futures look like & how we could take part in them today? Leng Dei aspires to become a social enterprise, that seeks to bring more fun and life quality to the environmental education landscape. Our mission is to empower people to connect with soil, biodiversity and environmental care. We do this through 3 mission channels: 1) an empowering space “Leng Dei”, which means “play with soil” in Khmer language, a educational food garden located in the city of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, so that people can feel “Wow! I’m feeling inspired to be a part of this!” 2) empowering educational toolkits, to compost, garden, cook, teach, so that people can feel “I did it! And I loved it! And many things clicked!” 3) an empowering network “For an ecologically literate world”, so that educators can find programmes and resources to grow ecological understanding and belonging, as well as find and share support, empathy, inspiration, moments to meet. By 2030, we want to help turn square meters of urban space into educational food gardens, and grow a collaborative network of educators for lively & fun ecology education.
