LettuceBee Kids is a social enterprise that reintegrates street-children into society. Evidence shows that retention rates for street-children placed into regular schools are alarmingly low. The reasons for this is simple as even after joining their peers in the classroom, the low self-esteem and sense of not belonging persist. LBK bridges that gap through a series of activities proven to benefit children. The underlying aim is to establish human ties that are inviolable by race, culture, religion or politics LBK was recognized by IE (Instituto de Empresa) Business School as students examined the enterprise as a case study to design more sustainable and scalable solutions. The business side of the model is to capitalize on design/product development inspired by imaginative artwork of LBK children, converted by in-house designers into lifestyle products for children. These products-for children, by children-establish ties and enable sustainability by reducing reliance on donor funding. After the success of our stationery products, LBK is bringing to market a series of themed interior textile solutions, thoughtfully designed to become a leading brand of textile for children.
