Lewtrenchard Manor

Lewtrenchard Manor is a luxurious country house hotel & restaurant virtually untouched by time. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, this idyllic family-owned property is steeped in history: the Jacobean manor that now stands in these impressive grounds dates back to the early 1600s. The Murray Family owned the business from 1988 until 2003 when they sold it to Von Essen Hotels. They have now bought it back, as of March 2012, after Von Essen Hotels went into administration. The hotel is very much run as a family business with the owners on site most days. The hotel has 14 bedrooms and is classed by the AA as 3 star. The chef is Tom Browning and has 2 Rosettes for food from the AA and 5/10 in The Good Food Guide, this puts him as one of the best chefs in the south west.
