Millions of people are cut off from the resources that change lives. We close the access gap. Libraries Without Borders US (LWB US) is the American branch of Bibliothèques Sans Frontières (BSF), an international nonprofit founded in 2007. We expand access to information, learning, and cultural connection for people who have long been overlooked. As the only organization that blends expert library support services with hands-on community implementation, we ensure economically disadvantaged, underrepresented, and immigrant communities gain equitable access to knowledge and opportunity. Our mission moves through two interconnected pathways: Community Programs We partner with communities to remove barriers to access, create culturally relevant programming, support early literacy, and preserve local stories and culture. Institutional Partnership We support libraries by providing tailored capacity-strengthening services that help them reach and serve excluded communities with greater confidence and impact. Our approach is: Community-led. Place-based. Evidence-informed. Justice-oriented. We sustain our mission through a dual revenue model: philanthropic support for direct programs and earned revenue from consulting that helps institutions deepen their impact.
