Work is a part of life, not the other way around. Life Work Balance evolved from the phrase “work-life balance.” Reversing the words to life-work balance helps us prioritize life, while also acknowledging most of us cannot live comfortably (financially, emotionally, etc.) without the benefits work gives us. Whether you are a student, retired, working several jobs at once, unemployed, in a career transition, or happily employed, the world of work influences your life. It’s important to find a balance where we can both work in an enjoyable and rewarding career while also live life to the fullest. Successfully managing your roles in life and work requires you maintain a healthy balance between your personal and professional life. It is fairly typical for individuals to hold between 10-15 jobs over the course of their life. It is much harder to work for a single employer for the course of your career, which means it’s likely you will experience career exploration, transition, and management multiple times throughout your life.
