Lifecycle Building Center (LBC) is a community-based warehouse facility that directly assists the general public by identifying and implementing best practice green building-related concepts. The idea is to reduce solid waste disposal, promote resource efficiency, stimulate economic development, and empower every citizen to improve their own built environment. Website: Facebook: YouTube: Instagram: Twitter: https://twitter.com/LBC_Atlanta LBC’s PROGRAMS Material Reuse Center/Retail Store: The heart of LBC is our retail store from which we sell or direct salvaged building materials to the public. The store is open to the general public five days a week (Tuesday through Saturday). LBC’s pricing structure is between 50-85% below new material costs. Material Donations: Material donors can bring building material donations to the LBC warehouse during store hours. LBC accepts both residential and commercial building material donations. Items brought to LBC should be in useable condition. Pick-Ups: Material donors can schedule a pick-up of building material donations by LBC staff. LBC accepts both residential and commercial building material donations. Items picked up by LBC staff should be in useable condition. Commonly accepted materials include: Doors • Windows • Cabinetry • Flooring • Carpet Tiles • Pavers • Appliances • Plumbing Fixtures • Lighting Fixtures • Fasteners and Hardware DECONSTRUCTION SERVICES Deconstruction is the practice of disassembling a building in such a way that the building materials can be reused and is a cost-competitive alternative to conventional building demolition. EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS Home Performance Workshops: In this workshop series, LBC staff members guide participants through hands-on exercises and provide homeowners with the knowledge and skills needed to improve the efficiency, durability and safety of their homes. Participants learn both material deconstruction and build skills in this varied series. Small build projects are centered on innovative material reuse. NonProfit Material MATCH Program LBC provides free materials to nonprofits, schools, community groups and houses of faith each year, thereby strengthening each organization’s ability to enact their mission and serve their constituents. Nonprofits must apply through LBC’s website and are evaluated based upon the following criteria: successful execution of mission, strength of need, alignment with LBC mission, availability of requested materials and project timeline. OPERATIONAL IMPACT Since beginning operations in 2011, LBC has diverted over 3.0 million pounds of building materials from landfills and saved the community over $1.6 million through discounts on material purchases, avoided disposal costs and the donation of free materials to over 110 nonprofit organizations.
