Lifefirst

LifeFirst is an initiative by the Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation that is dedicated to enhancing the quality of people's lives in India, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable sections of society, through its various programs. The Foundation supports initiatives that aim to elevate the health status of these sections of society by engaging with like-minded organizations and institutions, both public and private. Through its support, the Foundation helps in building capabilities, infrastructure, and community outreach programs. LifeFirst focuses its efforts on providing Tobacco Treatment services through counselling, training, and research. The organization delivers tobacco treatment services in a variety of contexts, such as hospitals, primary healthcare centres, government health programs, workplaces, community settings, and schools. LifeFirst has made a pioneering attempt to develop culturally appropriate approaches to tobacco cessation within various settings in India, especially creating evidence for addressing cessation models for smokeless tobacco use within the Indian population. The organization also imparts training in these areas, which is an important part of the tobacco control agenda. The goal of this training is to build a team of competent healthcare professionals with skills to provide evidence-based tobacco-dependence treatment in a variety of healthcare settings. In addition to this, comprehensive counselling, pharmacotherapy, and follow-up services are provided by trained Tobacco Treatment Specialists to achieve lasting results.
