Lisylou Photography

My name is Lisa Valentine and photography has always been around me from when I was a child. Some of my earliest memories are sitting with my mum looking through old photo albums with her. We used to look at our family’s memories from previous Birthdays, Christmas’s and Holidays. My mum used to have a nickname for me called Lisylou, which has still remains to this day. Throughout my life I have always loved photography but my career never allowed me to take the time to pursue my passion. Back in the UK, in my early 20’s, I took a bold step to retrain and change into a direction of life. I trained as a Horticulturist and Garden Designer, subsequently I created my own business. I never imagined for one second that the aspects of composition from learning Garden Design would help me in my career now of photography. I moved to Dubai in 2014 and initially found myself with the unique opportunity to learn something new. It was then my continuing interest in photography began to grow. When I picked up my camera and showed my photographs, I felt confused as to why people would compliment me on them. What I did know, however, was that I loved photography. I took as many online courses and attended as many courses as I could, as well as reading as many books, magazines and camera instruction manuals as I could about my new passion.
