Llanelli Sand
Llanelli Sand has been based at its Burry Port premises since 1989. At this site, it stockpiles marine sand that has been dredged using specialised trailer suction hopper dredgers. Sand is dredged in the Bristol Channel from Crown Estate offshore marine aggregate Licence Area 476, Nobel Banks. This modern concession provides a range of high quality sands. All dredging is closely monitored by the Welsh Assembly Government, its scientific advisors and the Crown Estate. Monitoring reports and related studies can be accessed via the Archive section of this website. In addition to providing sand to the construction industry other aggregates are brought into the site and processed and sold. The company has invested significantly in its bagging operations and provides a wide range of bagged products to builders merchants in south and west Wales. Sand is also supplied to local infrastructure and construction projects. The company operates a vigorous health and safety policy and is working towards achieving accreditation for ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
