This is because labs require plasma for 85% of the 2 billion blood draws done yearly in the US, but plasma can only be obtained from blood with specialized lab equipment. For patients who live too far away, or are too busy to go to a lab, we’ve built a device that with 3 simple steps enables them to self-collect and mail in their own plasma sample with the guarantee that it’s just as good as one collected in the lab.
