Lookout Brighton

We are working towards future generations of happier, motivated people inspired by a sense of possibility. The opportunity to be creative should be available to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. LOOKOUT helps young people understand their own potential, build self-esteem and resilience through high quality creative experiences. Since October 2018, we have worked with young people aged nine to nineteen years, with theatres, schools, galleries and other local businesses in Brighton & Hove to celebrate and encourage creativity, co-create artworks with young people and open up pathways into the creative industries. At LOOKOUT we believe young people, professional artists, teachers, parents, carers and the wider community can all benefit from having more opportunities to be creative and share ideas. We work in schools, colleges, art spaces, community hubs, workshops and anywhere creativity is being put into practice, to start conversations, share skills and make stuff happen. We have created platforms for young people we work with to collaborate with professional artists, meet local MPs, undertake creative work experience and find paid work in the creative industries. We encourage the people we work with to become critical thinkers, explore new ideas, build their confidence and understand that they have the right to become active citizens in their City. We make live and online shows, podcasts and all sorts of other creative acts happen from Manga art to beat-boxing to films.
