Loros Centre For Excellence

In October 2022, LOROS became a Centre for Excellence for applied research in palliative and end of life care, generating new knowledge and driving its translation into effective and empathic personalised care with patients, families and professionals. Our ambition is to be at the forefront of hospice research in the UK. Undertaking work that improves care, is of local importance and has national and international impact. As a thought leader, we will facilitate debate and advocate for change through influencing policy and key decision makers. Our Aims: Establish a sustainable and focused research unit which will be at the forefront of knowledge generation in relation to palliative care and to lead improvements in symptom management, quality of life and services for patients and families. The LOROS Centre for Excellence will offer an integrated approach of care, learning and leadership. Our research and education teams work together, intentionally facilitating innovation and translation of knowledge into practice through workforce development, advocacy and capacity building. This integration allows the patients, families, practitioners and services that we support to shape our research and guide our activities. To elevate the standing of LOROS as an academic and clinical centre of innovation and excellence and further strengthen our Affiliated Teaching Hospice relationship with the University of Leicester. To champion and advocate inclusive, accessible and equitable care for all.
