Louie George Michael

Louie George Michael is a Montreal based designer who makes furniture as cheerful as a Wham song. Originally an architect, Louie George Michael decided to take control of her creations by becoming a builder as well as a designer. Therefore, she left France and moved to Canada to study cabinet making. Seduced by local maple, she started her own line of playful designs. She investigate the co-existence of people in space by blurring the boundaries between architecture and design. She tries to make furniture fun by playing with scale and function. She invents and creates everything herself by using the inherent qualities of the material as the source of her concepts. For instance, the toughness of the maple allows me to bend it, or the imperfection of the burl becomes a cavity I can make glow in the dark.
