Luava

Luava is a leather goods brand that is also a design studio, a product photographing service and me - a passionate entrepreneur called Juuso Virtanen. Let's dive a bit deeper, shall we! Leather goods brand: I (Juuso) needed a leather wallet but couldn't find a perfect one so I designed and made it myself. Leather intrigued me as a material so I finally found a playground where I could execute my ideas. After making a bunch of different wallets I expanded to camera straps and other small items. After making a large catalogue I knew I was only getting started. Design studio: Over the years I noticed that designing is one of the most enjoyable phases of the whole process - and I was good at it! At first I used that skill only to my own products but then other people noticed my interesting designs so I started designing products for other brands and companies too. I design and make leather products for various companies (with their own logo) from different fields of business which is so fulfilling as I get to design product I wouldn't normally do and I deepen my knowledge constantly! Product photography: I've always taken photos so it's kind of an extension of my hand. After starting my own brand photography became an important part of it. My website got proper product photos and my Instagram-profile started to grow like crazy due the quality of the photos (and original designs). This is where I finally noticed that I could provide a product photographing service to my b2b customers for whom I design and craft leather goods for. It's an easy way for the companies to get high quality photos of their new products. Me: Passioned about design, leather crafting, hiking, music, drawing and chocolate (eating not making). I'm a father of two and a husband of one. I spend my summers in the archipelago on a boat and a cabin. I enjoy good films and my (not that) secret dream is to write and direct one myself someday. Minimalism is what I respect - in product design and life.
