Since 2020 I have operated on a self-employed basis as Lucy Lapwing. A general naturalist and self-described nature nerd, I specialise in engaging, quirky and informal wildlife communications. Since 2015 I have created my own presence and brand on social media under the name ‘Lucy Lapwing’. My focus is British wildlife, and my passion is communicating its magic, beauty and importance to a wider audience. As a Science Communicator, I enjoy taking a complex ecological concept and translating it into a subject that is fun and fascinating. As a general naturalist, I have a broad and deep knowledge of British natural history. If I have spare time, it’s always spent outdoors. Watching wildlife, observing species and absorbing the general goodness of nature. Learning and understanding wildlife and ecosystems comes as naturally to me as a bee-eater munching bees! As Lucy Lapwing, I offer varied services and support on a self-employed basis, including- Guided wildlife walks – Be it birdwatching or bug hunting, I’m an expert in rooting out some interesting wildlife wherever I go- Talks and Workshops – A confident public speaker, I deliver talks or interactive workshops on any nature topic- Online Content – Vlogs, videos, tutorials, live Q&A’s, I provide natural and engaging content for digital platforms- Nature Writing – Pairing a quirky and relatable tone of voice with in-depth natural history knowledge, I can write copy, opinion pieces and articles on a broad range of wildlife topics.
