The Four Elements: Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. In 2020 we reviewed our business plan and established a new common goal for the business, this will be our main driver in taking the business forward. We called it our ‘crazy goal’ because its ambitious and bold. Our Crazy Goal Eliminate Fuel Poverty, Save Lives and Improve the Health & Wellbeing of Social Housing Tenants in Scotland. Eliminating Fuel Poverty There are social housing properties in Scotland. Based on Scottish Government statistics, an estimated 25% of those households are living in Fuel Poverty, with a further 11.3% living in Extreme Fuel Poverty. In addition to households having to decide between food and heat, Fuel Poverty causes significant health and wellbeing issues to the tenants. This is abhorrent and unacceptable to the entire M-Four team. Working with our clients and partners, we intend over the next ten years to remove every one of those households from living in Fuel Poverty, where possible. Improving Fire Safety to help save lives There are 6,500 high-risk, high rise buildings and another 16,742 high-risk buildings such as care homes under the management of Social Landlords in Scotland. A fire within these buildings has the potential to be catastrophic; with our knowledge and expertise in these buildings we are uniquely placed to make every one of these buildings as safe as reasonably practicable and to provide solutions to ensure buildings remain safe for their entire lifespan. Working with our clients and partners, over the next ten years, we intend to ensure there are no deaths caused by Fire in high-risk buildings in Scotland. We have a range of sector-leading solutions which can reduce these risks and provide a method of maintaining compliance.
