Built in 2009 and 2010, the lodge was carefully planned to fit within the dune forest without disturbing the pristine environment. From the very beginning, it was essential that Machangulo had as little impact as possible on the untouched nature of the peninsula. Over the years, we have made thoughtful improvements to enhance the guest experience while continuing to reduce our environmental footprint. Sustainability and community are at the heart of everything we do. Local materials, labour and resources were used to bring the lodge to life. Today we are proud that all of our staff are Mozambican, with ninety nine percent coming from the surrounding area.
